21 weeks...

Baby gulps down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for hydration and nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. And, these days, those taste buds actually work! Studies show that after birth, babies are most interested in tastes they've already experienced through amniotic fluid. Meaning, think about what you want your future child to eat as you prepare your own lunch.

Mom's Notes: I love feeling him move so much! Im still really tired, and feel like he is sitting so low and my stomach feel ssoooo heavy....BUT he is healthy..and so its all worth it!

It's a BOY!

155788_10150331335120654_633745653_16011056_1320423_n

Yep, we are having another little boy and we are SO excited! I had thought about getting the results, but waiting til Christmas to find out what the baby was, but the suspense was killing me! Plus, it was very obvious that our little baby had a boy part the second she started!

We decided we like the name Zayde Brandon and we are so anxious to meet him! Im 21 weeks now, but measuring 22...so this guy is measuring a little big. Thats how his brother was, and ended up being born 5 weeks early and weighing in at 7 lbs. I hope this little guy stays in a couple weeks longer at least. I don't know how I could handle him being in the NICU with 2 others at home! :) We will cross our fingers for the best!

20 weeks...

Baby's digestive system is busy creating meconium (a tarry black substance made of swallowed amniotic fluid, digestive secretion and dead cells), which will fill the first diaper after birth. And, speaking of the diaper situation... baby's genitals are now fully formed!

Mom's Notes: We get to find out on Tues what we are having! Yahooo!!! Im feeling good, my stomach just feels so heavy by the end of the night...so Im definitely worn out!

Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.

Mom's Notes: Getting so excited to find out what we are having next week!!!! :)

18 weeks...

Your fetus has become amazingly mobile (at least compared to you), passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing. And, baby's finally big enough that you'll be able to feel those movements soon.
Mom's Notes: Not much has changed since last week, besides feeling the baby moving more! :)

17 weeks...

Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints.

Mom's Notes: I am beginning to wonder if my energy will ever return this pregnancy!! Ahh! Oh well, luckily I have a very understanding husband who picks up my slack! Thanks babe!

I felt the little one move!!!

I felt the little one move tonight for the first time! I was laying in my bed, listening for Alexa, to see if she had woken up...and I felt a very distinct flutter..that could not be passed off as gas bubbles this time! :) It was so fun! I don't think that could ever get old with each pregnancy. Feeling your baby kick for the first time is so amazing! I love it! I can't wait til the kids and Brandon can feel him/her move!

(I saw this and busted up laughing..so true!)

16 weeks...

Watch what you say... tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean the little one can now pick up your voice. Eyebrows, lashes and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming. And, if you're interested, an ultrasound might be able to determine gender.

Mom's Notes: I have been getting a lot of headaches and my energy is still pretty low, but the nauseasness is still staying away!! Yahoo!!

15 weeks...

Continuing the march towards normal proportions, baby's legs now outmeasure the arms. And, finally, all four limbs have functional joints. Your fetus is squirming and wiggling like crazy down in the womb, though you probably still can't feel the movements.

Mom's notes: It feels like I have already been pregnany for a long time..and really..I have so much longer to go! I am trying to love this pregnancy as much as I can and enjoy it since its our last. I think once I get past finding out what the sex is and making sure the baby is healthy with the US..I can relax a little!
I am getting headaches a lot and not left with a lot of energy..but I am so glad that the nauseasness has subsided 99.9%. I can't wait to start feeling this little baby move!

14 weeks...

Your adorable little fetus is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, and (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over the body for warmth.

Mom's notes: I don't want to jinx myself but the nauseasness is pretty much gone! Hallelujah....BUT out with the nausea and in with the headaches. Those aren't so fun..and have me laid flat on the couch sometimes, but it's all worth it right? :)

2nd Doc Appt

I had my second doctor's appt today and it was quick..but everything looks good! The heart rate was at 149..and if the old wive's tale is true..that points more towards a boy! We will see! We set our ultrasound appt for Dec 14th! Is it a boy or a girl?

13 weeks...

Your fetus is forming teeth and vocal cords... savor this, their non-functional phase. Baby is approaching normal proportions, with a head now only one third the size of the body. Intestines are in the process of moving from the umbilical cord to baby's tummy. (Much more convenient.)

Mom's Notes: Things are still the same!

12 weeks...

As you move into the second trimester, baby shifts into the growth and maturation stage. After weeks in the critical development stage, almost all of baby's systems are fully formed.

Mom's Notes: The nauseasness seems to not be all day at random times, for the most part its just after I eat. My energy is still really low, but I am hanging in there!

11 weeks...

Your fetus currently enjoys a 1:1 ratio between body and head, and has skin so transparent that blood vessels show right through. But, fingers and toes are no longer webbed, and hair follicles, tooth buds and nail beds are forming -- setting up a significantly more attractive future.

Mom's Notes: Looking forward to not feeling sick anymore! :)

10 weeks...

With bones and cartilage starting to form and vital organs beginning to function, baby is making major progress. Body length will almost double in the next three weeks, and arm joints are now working. (Soon, legs will too.)

Mom's Notes: The nausea is starting to get worse and I am as tired as all get out! I am crossing my fingers that it will pass and my energy will return!

First Doctor Appointment

{Here is a picture of our little squirt}

We had our first appointment today! The kids were so excited to go see the baby! Everything looked great and there is only one in there! Phew!!

Since I am only 9 weeks, it was a little harder to get a really clear picture and the heartbeat was hard to pick up but definitely there!

Can't wait til our next appt on Oct 25th!

9 weeks...

Baby's now the size of a green olive!Your little embryo has now officially graduated to fetus-hood. Adding to the excitement, a Doppler ultrasound device might be able to pick up the beating heart. With basic physical structures in place and increasingly distinct facial features, baby is kind of starting to look like...well...a baby!

Mom's Notes: Not too many changes. Still very tired. The thought of most foods make me want to throw up. I still make myself eat what I can though. Light foods, such as fruits and salads and breads are things I like lately.

Can't wait for our first appt on Monday!

8 weeks...

Baby's now the size of a raspberry!Baby is growing like mad, putting on about a millimeter every day and continuing to straighten out in the trunk. Though you can't feel it yet, baby is moving those little arms, legs, and (now only slightly) webbed fingers and toes like crazy.

Mom's notes: I have been feeling pretty good! I noticed that now that I'm off my antibiotic for the bad bladder infection I got, I am not as nauseas. So that played a huge roll in that department and now its not as bad. That's a relief. The last few days I have felt so so so so tired all over again. It seemed like I wasn't as tired for awhile, but it hit me again big time.

7 weeks...

Baby's now the size of a blueberry!

Baby's brain -- both hemispheres! -- is growing fast, generating about one hundred new cells every minute. Arms and legs are emerging as joints start to form, and a permanent set of kidneys (baby's third!) is now in place. Gotta pee...again? There's a triple whammy at work here. HCG (pregnancy hormone) increases blood (and urine) flow, your more-efficient kidneys rid waste quicker since you're now peeing for two, and that growing uterus is pressed right down on your bladder.

Mom's notes: This week I have been feeling really nauseas! I have also gotten a really bad sore throat, so the fact that I need to eat, but it hurts my throat too bad..has made things a little difficult haha! I can't wait for my doctors appt in 3 weeks, so I can see this little one and have it all feel more real!

6 weeks...

Baby's now the size of an appleseed!

Your embryo, which doesn't look like much more than a tadpole right now, is actually starting to form major organs (heart, kidney, liver, stomach) and systems (nervous, circulatory, digestive). Baby's presence in your uterus triggers production of HCG (the hormone detected by pregnancy tests), which triggers the production of other hormones like estrogen and progesterone, which triggers all those great symptoms you've probably been noticing!

Mom's Notes: I still feel tired tired tired and throw in a little nauseasness..and you have my day! :)

Mom's notes: Feeling really tired and moody! Haha!

Here it goes...

Today I felt my first wave of nauseasness. I haven't ever gotten really sick in pregnancies before, just waves here and there. Today was the first one and it last about an hour then I was ok. I hope it keeps up like that. Well it would be nice to not have it at all, but I just hope it doesn't get any worse! :) Though..I did really want to get pregnant..so I will take what I get!

A New Little One is on the Way!

On Friday, Aug 20 we found out that we have a new little one on the way! We are excited for this baby to come and complete our family! We already told everyone on Saturday. We arent ones who can keep in the exciting news..so we spilled the beans!

I took 4 pregnancy tests..though only 3 are pictured. I just had to make sure that this little one was really really going to start growing inside me!!

I am going to keep this blog updated and then print it off for the baby to have in the future!

3 & 4 weeks...

Baby's now the size of a poppyseed!
Your now-fertilized (yay!) egg is on a journey through a fallopian tube, dividing and re-dividing into identical cells on its way to your uterus

Mom's Notes: A poppyseed? Oh wow we have a ways to go still haha!
